Many private residences alone may be over the $600,000 threshold.  Relax private residences are exempt from land tax but the Queensland state revenue might not know this.  You may have recently received a land tax assessment in the mail and discarded it thinking it is just one of those government notices about the increase in the unimproved value of your land.  Please take another look as a matter of urgency.<br \/>\nYou only have until 20th September 2022, yes, less than a week to notify the government that the property they have listed on your 2022 land tax notice is your private residence and therefore not subject to land tax.   Here are the instructions from the web site:<br \/>\nEach owner wanting to claim an exemption must complete a separate form. For example, if you own the home with your spouse, you would separately log in to your personal accounts and submit one application each.<br \/>\nYoutube video instructions <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=WVUCff1dAM8&amp;ab_channel=QueenslandRevenueOffice\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=WVUCff1dAM8&amp;ab_channel=QueenslandRevenueOffice<\/a><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Log in to <a href=\"https:\/\/login.osronline.treasury.qld.gov.au\/webapp\/index.html?samlContext=au1_8299884_e8380aeb-aeb0-4580-bb7d-461cc65a91be\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/login.osronline.treasury.qld.gov.au\/webapp\/index.html?samlContext=au1_8299884_e8380aeb-aeb0-4580-bb7d-461cc65a91be<\/a><\/li>\n<li>On the Home screen, select the <strong>My landMy portfolio<\/strong>.<br \/>\nTip: If you can&#8217;t see the &#8216;My land&#8217; tile, you may not have finished verifying your identity.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Manage exemptions<\/strong> from the side menu.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Lodge new exemption<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select the <strong>LT12<\/strong> tile.<br \/>\nThe explanatory notes under the tile will help you complete the form.<\/li>\n<li>Complete the form and click <strong>Submit<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you have trouble submitting the application, log out of QRO Online. Wait, then log in again using Google Chrome. Your form will be saved in <strong>Manage exemptions<\/strong> under <strong>Actions<\/strong>.
